Merritt is emotionally influenced by music. Music has been a large influence on her life...teaching her teamwork, humility, and love for the power of song. Merritt creates glass "lyrics" based on influencial songs, in which she hand letters onto the back side of the piece...as a secret, meaningful message "behind" the artwork.
